The theme for the May photo challenge is LONG TIME.
It's that time again: a new Shuttertalk photo challenge!
The theme for May is "long time". How you interpret that is completely up to you: long exposure, photos showing the effects of time, a video or timelapse sequence that captures its essence – be creative and have fun! There are no right or wrong ways to interpret the theme, but how well your photograph captures it will be considered in the judging.
And yes, in addition to still photos, this challenge is open to VIDEO.
This challenge will operate with slightly different rules and requirements from the April "Tools" challenge, so please keep reading.
For the CHALLENGE: You may enter up to three photos and/or videos (total). The image/footage must have been recorded within the past year, meaning on or after 1 May 2011. It only seems fitting that the "Long Time" should allow older material.
To submit an entry to be considered for judging, post it in this thread. You are also encouraged to post experimental, fun, or other thematically-appropriate photos/video here, so please indicate whether each one is for the competition or for more casual enjoyment. If that's not clear, then the judge(s) will be fed the last three photos/videos posted by each person.
Thanks, everyone, and if anything's unclear, or if there are any questions, let me know!

#1 Ravages of times now long gone
This is from my last trip to Newfoundland and Labrador. It was taken on the Quebec side of the border with Labrador. This far north there are few trees and those that are there are small and wind-swept. The tiny communities subsisted on fishing. People did not live long and the life was not easy. This photo symbolizes how I see this beautiful part of Canada

Wow, fantastic image Pavel - every emotive. The mono treatment works really nicely, and it has a very strong focal point as well.

I call this "Time in New York"
I shot this in September 2011 in Grand Central Terminal, New York City. It celebrates my daughters' 2 year stay in NYC, where those 2 years went by 'in a blur'.

Hi all, our challenge this month is sponsored by Totally Rad, with some cool Lightroom Presets pack for post processing awesomeness! Rather than repeat myself again here with regards to the prizes, how to win them etc. I'll just include the link to the page on our site:

Julian, that's awesome news about the prizes for this month. The Lightroom presets look great.
Pavel, awesome shot, and an excellent take on the theme.
bobscola, welcome to Shuttertalk! That's a far better photo of Grand Central Terminal than any that I've taken. And yes, like Jules, I'm now looking around for something else to photograph…
NT, Bob's photo is loading correctly for me…

Yep it's back now. I wonder if it was because of the file size taking a while to load on my Ipod via wifi. The dogs had gone as well on the other thread, but all the other pics were there.

We're now half-way through the challenge period – have you picked out an entry yet? Remember, you can submit as many as THREE photos, taken any time in the past twelve months.
Here's one from two weeks ago. It's a fifteen-second exposure, which is the longest my S100 can handle, and was taken at 3am. It's been a long time since I was awake that early!

Haha, fantastic. Is the bike tyre warped or just distortion? If it is then it will be a LONG TIME before the rider gets home...

Pavel, I've been known to be early... once...
For this photo I was seeing Penny off, as she had an early-morning flight. I went back to bed after.
Julian, the back wheel is bent, which happens to bikes that are abandoned. So this bike has been here a long time.

Thanks Jules. I've been planning to do that particular shot for a while, and the Long Time challenge provided the extra motivation to get off my butt and do it.

A second is a long time.
I think a lightbox would have helped.

Great images! I'm going to seriously attempt to get a photo in… but it always takes such a 'long time' for me to get organised

If anyone needs some inspiration, here's an idea... you just need 45 DSLRs and a few years...
