Cleaning lenses
#1

Does anyone have any experience cleaning old lenses?

I happened to get my hands on a Carl Zeiss Tessar 50/2.8. It uses the M42 screw mount so I can get the adapter and use it on my Pentax bodies.

I looks like over the years some dust, fungus, etc etc has collected inside the glass so I am planning of disassembling it and trying to give it a good clean. Does anyone have and good tips on the best products to use?

Alternatively, anyone in Perth know of someone who can do it very cheaply?

Cheers! Big Grin

Haven't really had to much more than use cleaning solution and special cloth and then lens tissue for overall clean. Try to remove all surface particles first using a blower / brush, otherwise you might grind the dirt and scratch the lens.

Try not to rub too hard when cleaning as well, as it could take off the lens coating...

Yes, gently is the way to go. Talk to you local camera shop they will have small amounts of something suitable.
