Cleaning up the City...
#1

I travel around a fair bit, and recently I went to Manhattan for a vacation - I have posted lots of shots from that trip already.

I had a cityscape taken from the Empire State Building that I have ignored up until now as it is of poor quality and dubious value. Last night I decided to see if I could clean up the city a bit and see if I could make something of this shot...

Here is how I started:

Not too impressive - typical tourist shot - poor everything.

Here is what I got with about an hour's work:

I am a lot happier with that. It is still a touristy shot without much real merit - but I think you will agree that it is greatly improved. Now if only I could do something with the horizon...

Another hour on it, and you can hang it in the Tate Gallery. Very nice.
In PS, in the Filters is Distort..Spherize..Which either blows out the middle or shrinks it. That may straighten your horizon (if it is the curvature you are on about.)Smile

Great to see this shot from original to your edit. You've done very well to clear up the haze / fog. The colour of the river and sky is a bit improvement also.
