Do I need a new camera?
#26
It was impulsive as I knew it would be. Maybe I should be cursed instead of congratulated. Oh well, I can't stop things now.
Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/

When you'll receive it and try it I bet you'll be really amazed of what it can do so you'll acually congratulate yourself for your decision Big Grin

It all depends on how much you want to use the camera + the new features you would get by upgrading the equipment.
I had a d40 and I bought the d5100.
I can say it was not a big of an upgrade other than couple of features like shooting HD video + auto bracketing features for HDR + swivel LCD and a bunch of other features.

IMHO, I would rather invest more money into different lenses if I have a decent body. But I think d40 is a bit outdated though.

auto bracketing is very handy and so is the swivel.
