Filter Quality
#1

I'm wondering how people select their filters. Like with every other consumer product, filters have ranges as well, starting from your cheap, uncoated filters to the multi-coated, scratch resistant, ultra-slim thread ones.

Do you say, buy the highest quality UV filter but compromise on say the polarising filter because you don't use it as often? Or do you buy the best filter money can buy all the time?

By the way, here's a cool link to transform your unused UV filter into a soft focus "mist" filter:

Cool. But My uv filter doesn't go unused. It's called lens protection. I also have a sky filter for the same reason.

Sit, stay, ok, hold it! Awww, no drooling! :O

Lok at it this way. You pay a lot of money for a good lens but the overall quality of the glass will be determined by the cheap filter if you go that route.

I agree with Colin - I ALWAYS have a good UV filter on all of my lenses at all times.
