First test shots: 500 mm ProOptic Mirror Lens

I had to figure out how to use my Nikon D40 manually and what to set my shutter speed at. I also had to manually focus. However, the results are very encouraging. These pictures were taken hand held in the early evening with the sun low in the sky. Exposure was about 1/300 (the lens is f6.3--fixed).

These are not works of art but they give an idea of what the images look like.

Quite bright for the time of day.
Last one is either windy or you are shivering. Big Grin

Canon 350 D.+ 18-55 Kit lens + Tamron 70-300 macro. + Canon 50mm f1.8 + Manfrotto tripod, in bag.

I tried to grab a flock of geese. It's almost impossible to catch moving objects with that lens.
