Perhaps it is the intention that the fisherman is to remain mysterious. However, the lighting seems to draw my eyes away from him and to the name and number of the boat. So I wondered about reversing the lighting (e.g. overlay a graduated filter layer), in an attempt to draw the eyes to the subject?

Not so much EdMak, my preference is to make the eye search detail out rather than giving it all at once I guess, although as you say each to their own.
