Fogo Island Icebergs Galore
#1

I got out of the house for the first time in ages; was stuck in bed with the flu for 9 days, and three more days just moping around the house with a bad cough. Anyway, I am on the road to full recovery and decided to get out with my cameras and capture some icebergs. And holy cow, there are icebergs everywhere you turn! I lost track after 50 huge ones! Never seen anything like it. What a gorgeous site to see these monster size bergs gleaming in the sunshine amidst the bluest blue water of the North Atlantic.

I also saw tons of caribou, and had to stop the car a few times to wait for them to cross the road. I even saw my very first ever Newfoundland Pony, of which there are only 80 left in the entire province, and only about 200 in the world! What a fantastic day!

Here are a few iceberg shots taken today, all within a short distance of my home.

Absolutely stunning photos. I love the village photo the most. Wonderfult colors, detail, fine composition - I am going to NF June 5 - I would be thrilled to come back with anything half as good. Any suggestions of places to visit would be appreciated. We are starting from St. John and have 2 weeks. Current plan is to follow north shore and go west as far as our legs and cameras will allow us.

Hi Pavel,
Thanks for the kind words.
You will not be disappointed on your Newfoundland trip, that's for sure. You are arriving right when the icebergs are packed in like sardines along the northeast coast.
The best places for taking pictures are Twillingate, Change Islands, and of course you cannot beat Fogo Island for pristine beauty everywhere you look, not to mention the friendliest people on the planet.
Have a pleasant trip!

So true about *friendly* Newfoundland...be prepared to sit and talk when you run into anyone. Twillingate is one of my favorite places - haven't been to Fogo - but I can see by these shots that I missed a great opportunity. Next time...

Hi Glen, I haven't been too there, in Fogo island. But as if you took me there by these wonderful photos. They are all so beautiful photos. I think there was a so bright weather but you caught so well. As if I can touch the houses or the rocks... Wonderful. So clear and so nice colours, how I wish to take photo such as this one. But I think everything is important for this, even the clear weather too. Fogo island seems has a wonderful clear weather. Well done. I loved it so much. This photo brought me a new imagine about Fogo island Smile

Thank you,
with my love,
nia

Excellent snaps,
I really like them, this island is awesome in its beauty, shape and environment, there are numerous pictures available in the internet,
here available pictures are very rare in their quality;
ships are in very good pattern in the available snap, I think newly married couple should celebrate their honeymoon on these kinds of islands;
