Gloucester Prison
#1

I took the little Fuji x100s on a tour of the long closed Gloucester Prison today. Was very dark and grim, and I regretted not taking a flash, but I upped the ISO and slowed the SS and had a good time - unlike most of the folk who had to live in tiny cells, no toilets or heating, two to a cell. All the EXIF should be available on Flickr - just follow the links.

Grim is the right word, Derek. Like this series. Every picture tells a story.
Cheers,
Mike.

Sensational series. The black & white images especially standout as they evoke a sense of the stark, sobering reality of the environment. Very well done!

No need for a Flashgun here, mood is excellent.
Perhaps using this type of prison now would act as a deterrent. I spent one night in the guardroom RAF 1953, not guilty, no beds available, leave pass mix up, arrived a day early, but I was still lights out at nine PM, and up at 5am. Ed.

To each his own!

Unusually for me, I prefer the colour images in the series. Great images, very grim.
