Interesting, Ed. The message is to have a cautious and thoughtful approach to the use of those effects and techniques. The only one I would change is square format, to which I have no objections. I would replace it with letterbox format - both horizontal and vertical - which nearly always looks unnatural and feels claustrophobic to me.

Cheers.

The writer might be as old as me!! Work wise, a square print was very unusual, borne out by lack of ready made frames, folders, mounts and the like. A 12 on (120) camera, which we did use, very occasionally, had a mask, bought as an accessory, which was always in place, sure I still have it somewhere, giving 16 on. Bonus was 4 extra pictures free! A square print still looks strange to me. Cheers. Ed.
