Greetings
#1

I am from eastern Canada currently spending the winters in the south. I mainly shoot birds in action (if I can get them) and shoot landscape For stationary birds (e.g. Rookery) prefer to use a 70D with a Tamron 150-600. For my active bird shots and amazing AQF I use a Canon 5D Mkiii with a 100-400 (without the 1.4 converter) as the 70D withe the Tamron simply does not lock in quickly enough.

Welcome to Shuttertalk.

I shoot wildlife and birds also, how do you like the Tamron 150-600?

I am currently trying to decide between the Tamron or the Sigma Sport.

Welcome, Whitehall. I am mainly into landscape myself.

Ask yourself, "What's most important for the final image?".

Bob,

I found the Tamron too be excellent. My wife loves here, she has Nikon 810.

I went to NFLD this summer and used the Tamron and my 17-40 exclusively. If you wish you may look at the results on my web www.givefoto.com.

Bob,

I misspoke. I did not use the Tamron in Nfld. I used my 70-200 Canon and a wide angle lens. I did use the Tamron for my bird photography in 2015 (also on my web site). As for the Sigma, 150-500 I did not like it but the new Sigma may may be better, it has good reviews. That said, I reconfirm that for IQ I like the Tamron but I find that it does not focus fast enough, hence I purchased a 100-400 Canon which with a 5D Mkiii is extremely fast and the IQ is also superb. In bright conditions coupled with a 1.4 it will also give me the distance though I loose a stop. Sorry for the confusion.
