Hack a EF-s lens for Canon 10D
#1

The new series of EF-s lenses are only compatible with the newer Canon digital cameras, such as the 300D, 20D and 350D. This is because these lenses sit further back internally, and are only compatible with those APS-C sized sensors and smaller mirrors. To make sure that the lens isn't used by mistake on other cameras, they put some extra plastic on the EF-s lenses.

Interestingly enough, the EOS 10D has a APS-C sized sensor, but is unable to mount EF-s lenses. This guy however, was brave enough to saw off the extra plastic to allow use with the 10D.

I like his methodology:

Quote:Take a EF-S 18-55 lens and a hacksaw, saw off the bits that don't need to be there, mount it on a 10D, zoom to 18mm, press the shutter and see if there's a noise of breaking glass. There wasn't when I did it!

Lol... so there you have it. Be warned - your mileage may vary... Big Grin
