I did this version, using the first image posted, solely in Lightroom.

   

I created almond shaped Radial Filters and initially selected Contrast. However the effect wasn't what I wanted so I increased the Exposure in both these Radial Filters by 2 stops. There may be a better way of doing it, but that was my method.

Ask yourself, "What's most important for the final image?".

cracking! mine was almost like that,
till I mucked it Undecidedup!

For P/S users.
I segregated the white parts, using the quick selection tool, did both eyes at same time, then used the Dodge tool, large brush, covering both eyes, 3 clicks, done. Ed.
