The 30D is new, it was paid for doing stock.
The D1, I bought at a Police auction. It was a former Australian Federal Police item. But no battery charger or lens, so I am not sure if it works.

I've always wondered about buying from auctions like the police auctions. How much did you pay for the D1? Do you lose your money if it doesn't work?

Yes ... buyer beware. But only paid $225. It is a great looking piece of equipment. And I guess I will learn more about the dials etc on professional bodies from playing around
