Lapse in concentration!

These were taken on the night of the eclipse, when nothing much was happening.....

This is looking up from under the tree, it looked good on the night....

This was taken the night before the eclipse. They were about 60feet from the shore and are lit with a torch.

It is our job as photographers to show people what they saw but didnt realize they saw it ......

I like these, especially the first one. It has more lasting value than any of my eclipse shots, so I think your lapse was a good idea.
