Hi everyone, I'm Mary. Please be gentle...I've got a really nice camera (well I think so anyway) and I have almost no idea how to use it.
Julian directed me to this site after I asked about Camera clubs in Perth, so here I am. I noticed earlier that Ian said he is married with 2 pugs...that sounds SO familiar...add another 2 cats and you have me as well...aren't pugs just SO affectionate/ expressive/wonderful??!! (Do you get the feeling that I love my pugs?) Anyway I just wanted to say hi to everyone and hope that I get to know everyone a little bit better. Mez

Hi all,
Well, how rude of me not to introduce myself before now! I'm Adrian. I'm in my early 30's, live in Perth, Western Australia (along with about 1/2 these forums it seems). I'm not married and have no kids, but I do have a couple of cats. I am a software engineer by profession, specialising in Sport Science and Athlete Management software for elite sport. Photography is a hobby for me, but one I am more passionate about that I have been most other hobbies for a long time. It doesn't mean I'm particularly good, just that I am keen to improve. I've really only become interested in it since18 months ago I guess. I mean everyone takes photos, but I haven't taken them for their own sake or really wanted to improve until recently. And following Toad's lead (and good idea for a "get to know you" section), here is a picture of me: Adrian Broughton My Website: www.BroughtonPhoto.com.au My Blog: blog.BroughtonPhoto.com.au You can also visit me on Facebook! You're that cute and you're not married? I don't know of any gay software engineers so whats the deal Adrian? C'mon fess up.
Apr 3, 2005, 10:15
ummm.. thanks I think Jamie. I don't remember any guy ever calling me "cute" before (especially a married one with kids), but I'll take it as a professional opinion and compliment.
While I also don't know of any gay software engineers, *do* know plenty that throw and run like girls. Its a geek thing I think As for the reason why I'm not married? Well, sorry to disappoint you but there is no big scandal. About 6 months ago I broke up with my g/friend of several years when we both realised it wasn't really going anywhere, and I've been single since. Boring story I know. I mean it wasn't even a nasty vicious breakup, so there's no bitterness or anger eating me up inside or driving me to revenge. I'll try to do better next-time or at least make something up to have an interesting story to post. But I feel like I've been single long enough now, and am ready to move on. It seems all my friends are married with kids and stuff now though, so I don't tend to socialise with anywhere near as many single chicky-babes as I should, which makes it more difficult So, feel free to distribute my photo to any of your models.. hahahaha hmm.. maybe it would be better to distribute my phone number and NOT my photo. :/ Cheers Adrian Adrian Broughton My Website: www.BroughtonPhoto.com.au My Blog: blog.BroughtonPhoto.com.au You can also visit me on Facebook! peter Wrote:uhahua .. Hey Peter, You played inline hockey in Perth? coool, so did I! Did you play Perth League? Or one of the local leagues? I used to play Perth League and the local league down in Cockburn (Joe Cooper Rec Centre). I also used to play the local league at Rolloways in O'Conner before they moved to Joe Cooper in Spearwood. I was a goalie, but I sometimes came out in the field in the Cockburn league from time to time when I felt like a run. I stopped playing about 3 years ago when I did a knee injury, but I'd like to start again socially sometime. I started playing here when I arrived in Perth at the end of 1997. Hey Mary, welcome to Shuttertalk! Hope you don't feel intimiated... these people are the friendliest bunch you'll find anywhere. Well except for Rufus... - he can be a bit quirky
Hey I'm not surprised if you know Ian -- he's my brother -- maried to Rena and have a fawn pug named Crumpet and a black one named Oreo.

Quirky? Cranky? No, not me! You are confusing me with someone's cat, perhaps? Cave canem
Apr 4, 2005, 04:17
lol... yes you.. and you know we love you for it
Apr 4, 2005, 04:17
I don't think they are confusing you with a cat, Rufus.
Cats are, erm, how do I put it, different...

I actually just got some developed (cheated and got someone else to do them) of the day that our little girl (Zoe) was brought home (sounds like a kid doesn't it)...but the big question for me is where do I post them?? I'm still trying to find my way around here...so much to see...so much to learn....HELP!!!!

Sure thing...
Head over to the Photo Showcase section... then click on the "img upload" button and follow the instructions. Make sure to resize your photos first though -say to 640x480, so that it can be viewed easily by everyone. Have fun!

Well I did it, I've put an introduction to the pugs onto the Photo showcase...not that they are great photos...but they do introduce us.

Hey guys,
Didn't notice this thread before, but I'll introduce myself now. My name is Brad, although most people call me Loopy (or if that's too much to remember, just "Pae"). I'd like to be able to claim that I got that nickname for a cool reason, like being able to tie up certain anatomy parts into knots or something, but I think there's just a couple of screws loose... I've been taking photos for a looooong time (I'm 23 at the end of this month), and I've had a go at shooting some very weird and wonderful things. If I had a specialty at all, it would probably be underwater photography, but I've dabbled in landscapes, animals, aerials, action, astrophotography, macro - hell, I've even given Schleirin photgraphy a go (where you use different coloured dies in a supersonic wind tunnel to look at shock waves). Career wise, I'm into my 6th year in the air force. The first four were spent in Canberra dong a degree in aeronautical engineering and the last two have been flying - first in Tamworth, now over here. Hobbies wise, when I'm not taking photos, I'm generally still on the water. Freediving and fishing would probably be my next two passions, so if anyone every wants to hold their breath for a stupid ammount of time, let me know I think that's about it - I've got to say though, that this seems like a great little community. Most forums you look at have their "experts" (who know nothing), or won't even talk to you unless you've been a member for the last 4 years. You guys seem to have a nice balance of background and experience levels, so this should be fun That's pretty much all I can think of - I've got a couple of things lined up I want to shoot (a better night shot of the HIllary's lighthouse, the Circus that's around at the moment, I want to go check out the desert and sand dunes around here, and New Norcia is on the cards), but I'm looking forward to Kings Park this Sat night!
