Great pictures, that's a pretty small one, the ones around here are typically 3 inches or so in length.

We also get the bigger ones, normally brown but sometimes dark green.
The lighting I used was the onboard flash with my K10D, the lens was the Pentax 16-45mm F4 AL ED set at around F8, this lens is not really a macro lens but does allow fairly close focus at the 45mm end.

Very sharp indeed and beautiful light.
Love the color and detail. This is another picture I am missing in my insect album, we don't have them here.
