Hi Graham,
I noticed the same outcome when I uploaded to this months comp. My two shots were uploaded at 1000 x 562 and 1000 x596. They appear on my screen to be somewhat smaller than would have been the case previously.

I just about always upload to flickr and hotlink the image in.
