My El Cheapo Lighting setup
#1

I brought a paper lantern, stand and lightbulb all for under $10 US

Here is my setup

And here are the results:

using the lantern, and window light

Just using the lantern (at night)

Using the lantern and flash bounced of the ceiling as a fill

i've only had a quick play, and I think i should use a reflector on the right hand side next time, but hey, for $10 bucks not bad!
its pretty much impossible to get consistent colour though. I guess if you shot raw you'd have a better chance. I used the tungsten white balance.

Your photos are very nice.
Window light is the best.
One can always add fill light with computer.

The lantern really sems to soften the sometimes harsh effect of window light on shadows.

Nikon D3100 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5, (I like to use a Vivitar .43x aux on the 28-70mm Tokina), Nikkor 10.5 mm fisheye, Quanteray 70-300mm f4.5, ProOptic 500 mm f6.3 mirror lens. http://donschaefferphoto.blogspot.com/
