Nikon Cameras with WIFI
#1
It's certainly not an industry first, nor a first from Nikon (the P1 and P2 debuted last Sep) but it's becoming more mainstream. Nikon's released some new compact cameras with WIFI built in - the 8 megapixel P3 and P4, and the 6 megaxpixel S5 and S6.

Quote:Delivering further photographic fun and freedom through built-in Wi-Fi capability, the COOLPIX P3 offers IEEE 802.11b/g LAN support. Surprisingly easy to set up and use, it lets users send images instantly to a selected computer as soon as they’re taken, or alternately send all images stored on memory to a computer in one go. Wireless freedom also extends to printing too, so users can carry out cable-free printing to PictBridge-compatible printers*.
Look ma, no cables! Apparently there are hooks into PictureProject (Nikon's bundled software) that allows the camera to send pictures to be viewed on the fly, as soon as they're taken.

I wonder if it'll work over the internet too? Say if you leave your computer on, go shooting and then stop by a WIFI hotspot... could you upload and empty your card and then continue shooting?

You mean Pocket PC PDAs here, I expect. I have never heard of a Palm virus.
