Nikon D7000
#1

Nikon has announced the D7000, which has been rumoured to be the D90 replacement but is actually quite a lot closer to the D300s in specifications. I'm really glad to see that Nikon has really pushed the envelope with this model and not just put out another trickle upgrade to an existing camera.

Highlights:
- 16.2MP CMOS sensor (newly designed)
- ISO 100-6400 (plus H1 and H2 equivalent to ISO 12,800/25,600
- 39-point AF system with 3D tracking
- 2016 pixel metering sensor
- Full-time AF in Live View/movie modes
- Up to 6fps continuous shooting
- Magnesium alloy construction
- 100% viewfinder coverage

Yes - it looks very nice. I suppose the extra Mpx on the same sized sensor will hurt its low light performance a bit though...

the main attraction I see is the higher ISO performance over the D399. However, I looked at the high ISO images and found them at most 1 f-stop better than what I get with d300. Basucakktm I think I could shoot at ISO 1500 and with some tweeking get acceptable images, With D300m my limit is ISO 800.
