Olympus E420?
#1

I currently have a Canon Rebel... 300d... I'm a Canon fan and have used nothing BUT Canon (I have a 35mm SLR, a digital and a dSLR, all Canon).... But I am looking into an Olympus Evolt e420... Good for beginners? What are your thoughts on it?

Matthew should be able to comment - I think he owned one..

Do you have any existing Canon lenses / kit worth keeping? Maybe you might be better served sticking with Canon?

I used to have a couple of Olympus cameras, and the E-420 is a nice little machine. However, there's a strong likelihood that there won't be any more Olympus SLRs, so if you do decide to buy one forget that it's supposed to be part of a system. And no matter how nice it is, the current crop of digital SLRs and mirrorless interchangeable lens format cameras are superior, even the ones that cost about the same amount.

The short version: stick with Canon.
