Photo to be published
#1

[received by e-mail]

Dear DSchaeffer,

I am the editor of The Law Handbook, which is published annually by the Fitroy Legal Service in Melbourne, Australia. We are currently working on creating the cover for the 2009 edition and have discovered your fabulous photo of the old theatre in Winnipeg that was about to be demolished. We would love to use this image as the background for the front cover of the book , over which we would overlay an outline of the state of Victoria, and a photo of our community legal service here in Fitzroy - all abstracted. The book is approx. 1000 pages and is sold on a non-profit basis, with all funds from the book used to produce the book again the next year. The book has a very high reputation here in Victoria, and is used by all segments of the community, from those in prison through to law professionals. I would love to have your formal permission to use your photo for the book and for a marketing brochure to accompany the book. We would be happy to send you a digital version of the final artwork.

Best regards,
Carmen Harbour.

Congratulations! I'd love to see the photo again, to try to imagine how it will look... I'm thinking of the 'be first' photo from Fort Douglas, but I suspect that isn't it.

Congratulations Don!

I am puzzled about how they "discovered" your picture, do you know where they came across it?

Great news Don. Might be nicer if they could actually send you a published copy, rather than just the PDF.

Canon stuff.

Frankly shooter, I don't need a law journal from New Zealnd. It's huge.

Congrats Don!

Here's a coincidence...
Take a look at this scanned photo in my collection (circa 1980):

That's me on the left with my sister behind me. The other kids were all friends of ours who lived in my grandparents' street in Hobart.
My mum (who used to live in Melbourne) did some work for the Fitzroy Legal Service and picked up a bunch of freebie t-shirts for us all.

And Don, just so you don't put your foot in it when talking with these people, remember that Fitzroy is as much a part of New Zealand as Winnipeg is a part of Texas! Big Grin
