#1

Just a little something I found on the CNET Photoshop Basics Lesson 1...

So who knows the keyboard shortcuts off by heart? Big Grin

I know the one I use most.... Ctrl-Alt-Z - Step Backward.

My most frequently used keyboard shortcuts, none of which is on the list:

Ctrl Z to undo.

X to swap between foreground and background colors (incredibly useful when you are masking or dodging/burning and want to switch quickly between black and white.)

Ctrl 0 (zero) to make the image fit the editing window.

Ctrl + and Ctrl - to zoom in and out.

Ctrl A to select all.

Ctrl D to deselect.

Hey I use all those that Mitch mentioned too. Never remember the tool palette shortcuts though. I just click with my mouse. Big Grin

How about my favourites...

Ctrl + J to duplicate your layer.
Ctrl + E to Merge Down layer

Shift key... lotsa stuff, shift and - or + on a slider changes it by 10% rather than 1% or shift when selecting with lasso or magic wand adds to selection while ALT takes away from the selection.

Hmm that is all that comes to mind right now Smile

another handy one I very often use:

control-T = free transform

Used for resizing or rotating.
holding shift when resizing will maintain aspect ratio, and when rotating will rotate in steps of 15 degrees

Ctl-A or for whatever you have selected
Ctl-C
Ctl-N, enter, then
Ctl-V

the above grabs your selection and makes a new picture, good for many things

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm
not sure about the former.
