#1

Its been a while since I had any hosting done, I have to organise a few domains and in the old days always used Linux for Perl/CGI support but these days I don't know which is better?

If you find out, let me know. It's one of those choices I ave to make directly.

Linux definitely... runs apache... more stable, more widely accepted.

Microsoft tends to run IIS for web hosting, which is bleh. I'd only use Microsoft if your programs need asp support.

I don't even know how to code anything in asp, plus MS hosting seems to be more expensive anyway.

Ok next choice, I've already seen the recommendation for 1and1.com, any other suggestions?

Ok all setup now, I went with ipowerweb in the end, I liked the options they offered and utilities, they have quite a nice gallery setup plus the control panel is easy and powerful and the webmail is pretty comprehensive.

Yes, I'd say linux it can do the lot, including ASP (via mono) and iirc Apache was first build for linux then later ported to windows.
