I think digital may be good, but nothing can beat the quality of slides scanned in. Am I right? I say this because magazines and publications only accept slides.

I shoot almost all slides now - Velvia 50 primarily - and it is true that the quality is better and that many publications and stock photography agencies accept onlt slides (digital is catching on - but to match the resolution of Velvia 50 - you would need a 14 Megapixel sensor).
The flaw is in the scanning - you need a great scan to do the slide justice. Digital is much easier to post process.

I don't see a conflict there. I use both. I prefer difital, but use film for my "pro" work.
