Sigma DP1 - compact camera, large sensor
#1

From photographyblog:

Quote:The DP1 will feature a 14 megapixel FOVEON X3, APS-C size image sensor (2652 × 1768 × 3 layers) as used in the new Sigma SD14 digital SLR. The size of the image sensor used in the Sigma DP1 camera is 10 times larger than in a normal compact digital camera. The DP1 has a 16.6mm f/4 Sigma lens, equivalent to 28mm on a 35mm film camera.

This is pretty interesting - most consumer digicams have tiny sensors which mean that they can't compete with the image quality of DSLRs. This one comes with APS-C size sensor which is what most DSLRs use, which will ultimately mean less noise for the processing engine to clean up.

It's rangefinder style camera with fixed focal length (28mm equiv)... looks pretty interesting. Big Grin
