Tamron 28-300mm XR Di
#1

Anyone using one of these and what do you think. I will be using it on a Pentax *ist DS but I expect that it will be similar on cameras with similar size sensors.

Cheers.

Sorry, I think I posted this in the wrong area.

No worries Peted, I've moved the topic. Welcome to Shuttertalk, by the way!

I've always been eyeing the XR series - looks pretty good eh? I like the small form factor. Haven't used one personally though...

Thanks.

Aaah Melbourne spent about 14 years there last century, one of my kids is living there now.

Now I just have to work out how to get one at a good price, Teds has them listed for AU$800.

Nice place isn't it (Melbourne, that is). Whereabouts are you these days? Big Grin

If you're willing to buy online, you can usually get better prices at dirtcheapcameras.com.au or centre.net.au (although I couldn't find any tamron lenses on the latter).

In Canberra now, and thats a nice place too. May even look at the Sigma 135-400mm but I think it will be out of my price range and it's not a DC.

Perhaps I will just try one of the 500mm mirror lenses, they are pretty cheap.
