To crop or not to crop. That is the question.

Just curious as to whether people here crop most of their photos to get the right composition? I try to shoot using a rule of thirds but I find that almost everytime I have to crop to get the right comp.

Sit, stay, ok, hold it! Awww, no drooling! :O

Same here. I'm not sure I get the right composition often, but I crop most of my shots. Also, I'm too lazy to change lenses all the time (or sometimes the light is too bad to use the longer zoom lens), so I frequently need to crop because my subject is rather small in the middle of the pic.

Personally:
(1) only if I can be bothered and
(2) only if I know the photo is a definite keeper... Smile

I try to crop in the view finder as much as possible, and usually it's just some light trimming if I have to do more. I've gotten good at quickly switching the camera's focus points so that I can have my subject off-center, but I'm still frustrated by the sensor locations of my 7-point 10D.

When posting pics on the net I crop but every photo I take I always keep the original.
