Waterfowl
#1

We've been out and managed to take some pictures without losing a toe or having a finger frozen to the lens. Big Grin

I just post a starter, there's more to come but later or even during the next days...

oooo.. lovely sharp capture G!
And a nice angle too - its not often you get to view the top side of birds' wings while outstretched in flight like this, and you even managed to get its face in there too. An excellent study of a waterfowl in flight.

Edit: I just noticed that in the time it took me to write this, you posted your 2nd pic of the seagull.
That's also a lovely sharp shot with great detail, and the one-leggedness gives it a really nice quirky touch. And I love the crop you chose - making the gull's wings use the entire width of the frame and clipping the ends works wonders in emphasizing the wingspan.

Cheers
Adrian

I've seen these birds only in the water before. In flight they look rather funny, and walking on ice they are hilarious. Big Grin

Slippery When Wet

These birds have ridiculously large feet, useful for swimming, but an impediment for walking. Have you ever tried to walk with rubber fins? This is what it looks like. I wish I'd had a video camera. Big Grin

This, however, is a slightly less elegant flight pattern! Big Grin

Great series G and Irma,

G my pick has got to be #1 and I really like #9 coming in, good use of focus....could have put it in the new assignment.

Irma, Squadron stands out for me, like the PP, the comp, the frame, the name. just great!

I like Squadron too. Good composition and choosing to put a border and title really works well.

hi

great shots guys....

g... i really like your secong shot the composition is really good and diferent, most poeple would like to have the complete wings in but this one is great.

i......i really like your squadron shots in mot sure where the focus is (think at the last sea gull) but it looks good. Could have been better to have the focus in the first sea gull...but birds are extremely dificult to shoot. I think thses are very friendly birdies?? or not??

G... thanks for sharing the series - it was great! They're all beautifully sharp, and the tones and lighting in the images are really good too! I love the titles you're put on... hehe. Big Grin

Irma, I like your work too! #3 is my favourite - the reflection is way cool!

I love all these shots, they aren't your average bird shots! They really show the birds personality/activity which is really interesting and unique.

I love the squadron pic too, that bird in the back that looks like its locked onto a target does it for me!
Thanks for sharing these.
