Hey just wondering whether anyone knows of an easy way to take a snapshot of a website, e.g.



without having to manually do a manually screen capture, resize the image, etc.?

Even better if it's an online thing (as opposed to a downloaded utility) which generates a thumbnail image for you on the fly?

There's got to be one... I've seen 'Links' pages on other sites that use 'live' thumbnails of the sites they link to... I'll poke around....

I assume you're looking for a php script?

Edit: If you go to this page and click on any mamber's name, their profile comes up with their website and an image of same. Near as I can tell, it's dynamically created by the forum code, but I don't know enough about vbulletin to know if it's part of the forum or an add-on.

On the other computer I used a program called "Snag-it" I think.
It had many options.

Thanks for the link Pet-o... but I was after a utility that would render the website image automatically, instead of having me browsing there in my browser, doing a screen capture, cutting off all the unnecessary bits (toolbar, etc.) resizing the image, and all that...

Thanks everyone for your suggestions... I've settled on using webswoon from intellitamper. It's a utility that runs on your computer, so it requires a bit of manual workflow, but I think I've got it down pat.

I'm using it for the new resources section - what do you think?
