Wedding Photography
#1

During a trip to South Africa in March of this year I did some pictures for a friend's wedding. After seeing the online album someone has contacted me asking if I would be interested in doing their wedding. As I am not a pro does anyone have any words of advise or warning for me. Should I rather say that I would be happy to be a second photographer doing reportage style? I have a Canon 20D with 3 lenses, 4 gigs worth of memory cards, a Flashtrax portable backup devise, battery grip (all I really need is a Flash - can anyone recommend one?).

Here is the online album:

After seeing the album I'd say you are quite capable of being the main photog. You managed to capture some intimate moments as well as some great shots of the wedding party during some more relaxing moments. Very well documented in my opinion. As far as a flash recommendation goes the 550ex is likely right up your ally. I used my 420ex in a recent wedding but was only good inside. The distance needed out doors was inefficient but I still managed to get away with it. I wish I had a couple reflectors (silver and a gold) and helpers to hold them to be honest with you.

Sit, stay, ok, hold it! Awww, no drooling! :O

Surprisingly, you aren't the first to ask for tips on wedding photography... Big Grin
