i have been reading about aperture and i know someone i here is been ussing lightroom. any one else uses aperture? look like a great program? any comments experiences?

I tried apeture, but my machine couldn't really handle it, it was running wayyyy to slow for this little thing, so I reverted back to photoshop

Hi Christian,

I tried Aperture in store at Apple and thought it looked pretty neat. There are some issues with the way it stores your data that are keeping me away - but hopefully Apple will fix these.

Lightroom is a better programme in terms of what it can do. Aperture is a better programme in the way it does what it can do.

Pricing will be important - Aperture is too expensive (especially considering the upgrade of your equipment that nearly everyone will have to do to use it effectively).

Personally I am leaning towards Lightroom at the moment - but still really like Canon's DPP for it's very simple interface.

Just saw today that they have released a new version of Aperture for the Intel Macs and have dropped the price $200 US

Maybe thay got wind of a possible release price for Lightroom.

Apple recently asked the engineering team behind its Aperture photo editing and management software to leave, Think Secret has learned. The move, which resulted in the departure of several engineers while others were transferred to different projects inside Apple, raises questions about the future of Aperture, Apple's most heavily criticized and bug-ridden pro software release in recent years.

Hm... dropped the price by $200, fired most of the software eng team... doesn't sound good. :/
