Got this on Saturday.

To save duplicating, here's a link to my first 'out the box' thoughts...

I have one of these myself and the biggest issue that I have with it is that is *never* comes off my camera. Now I have a bag full of other exceptional pieces of glass that never get used. Congratulations - I absolutely assure you this lens will get a LOT of use.

yes yes, after using it for about 700 shots already this weekend, it is safe to say that it won't be budging from my camera body for a while.

at least... not until my new D300 arrives. TongueTongueTongueCoolTongueTongueTongue

be honest... I can take it.

Very cool -- I love the second ("fuel") sample photo.

How is the low-light AF performance with this lens?

The VR helps in low light for still subjects (gives you back about 2 stops). I use it all the time for my night shots. Fast action in low light demands something else though. I think I would use a prime in that situation - or maybe my F2.8 80-200.

Thanks Toad. Yes, fast action is more a concern.
