problem with d7000

I have a D7000 and have it set on the shutter priority setting.. on the display settings panel where the appeture should be shown there is a flashing f-- being shown and the shutter won't work...any suggestions..I can't find anything in the book?

It seems as though the camera and lens are not communicating electronically - it could be something as simple as dirty electrical contacts. Does it do the same when you attach a different lens?

Thank you for the help...It seems to have worked wipeing the contacts off..I may have accidently pressed the lens off button as well, as that was one of the fixes as well...thank you
