A few days before Christmas I was lucky enough to be taken on a scenic flight by one of my good friends who recently got his commercial pilot's license.
We flew around Perth, then up the coast to Lancelin and Wedge Island, then out to Rottnest Island where we landed for lunch, and finally returned to Perth in the afternoon. It was a fantastic experience.

I'll post some of the more "scenic" photos in another post, but here I wanted to post some of the more abstract landscape photos I took. The shapes and textures I saw from the air were amazing, but it was quite difficult to capture that feeling in-camera.

Even better than the color ones! Superb.
I like this a lot!!
My first question was... but why in bw??
Now I see that you worked these ones as abstracts.

This kind of shooting has been a dream to me... I would love so much to do an aerial shooting...

Would you tell a bit about the lenses you took your pictures with?

Well, you never know... maybe my aerial shooting is just around the corner and I would love to be prepared... Wink
I like 3 and 4 the best - great series.
Thanks for the comments.

Irma, when these were in colour it was difficult to not view them as landscapes, but in b/w they are easier to view simply as shapes and textures.
All these were shot with a 5D Mk2 and EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS, with a polariser fitted.
WOW! Adrian, really seems so exciting this flight and these scenic set! Especially number 2 ( Tracks in the dunes at Lancelin) and number 3 (Container ship off the coast of Fremantle) fascinated me so much. Well captured, you did great, thank you for sharing with us, it was so enjoyable for such a one who loves to look from the skies... Smile )

Blessing and Happiness,
with my love,
nia
Great series, colour me green! I'd love to get up in a light aircraft to shoot some pictures.
