Hi, the lens on my Nikon D40 is freezing up. I am not able to manually adjust the distance or when placed on Auto will the distance ring work. Does anyone have an idea about what to look at or do with this?

If the lens is set to autofocus the focus ring won't work. You can set the lens to manual with a switch on the side (forgive me if you knew this already).
