Yes - I was ashamed to be a Vancouverite last night.

It is inevitable that this sort of thing will continue to occur as long as we persist in viewing sporting events as something other than entertainment. Its just a game, but some people insist that these games are something more important - which they are not. Just plays right into the hands of the hooligans...
So sad! Some idiots will use any excuse, including a hockey game, to loot, burn things and cause mischief. One of the rare ocassions when I'm not very proud to be a Canadian.

Poor James, :|
Mob rule is terrible, and it only takes one idiot to start others.
The cheering of burning things is mainly youths who don't know better (Or uneducated louts).
I sadly listened to nutters singing burn burn burn when my footballs stadium was going up in smoke while 56 people were losing their lives.
Your photos are terrific street photography. I hope the police can castigate some of the troublemakers.
I also hope your home is still liveable in or well insured.
James, I hope you, your family, and home are all well.

Incredible photos and an incredible scene. Toronto had some problems with a dedicated set of vandals during the G20 conference, but nothing at all compared to what I'm seeing from Vancouver. It's hard to imagine.
Yes, I hope and wish you, your family and home are all well, this is so sad event! This seems so fearful, your photographs showing this.

Thank you,
with my love,
nia
Had no idea this phenomenon existed...and even with my limited and filtered knowledge of Vancouver would never have equated this with what I know. I hope some of the higher things about humanity rise into visibility above this.
