I have been frustrated that my color managed images come out too warm when posted on Flickr. My default browser is Chrome because of its speed. When I switched to Firefox (which I do color manage), significantly cooler colors emerged - identical to what I see in Photoshop. Explorer, which I do not use or color manage gives the same results as Chrome. Is it something to do with some differences in my Windows setup and Photoshop set up?
I have noticed that myself. I typically use Chrome, but I have noticed that colors in an online photo can be quite different than when viewed in Firefox or Safari. I think you can safely assume that this is a function of the browser and doesn't have anything to do with PhotoShop or Windows - otherwise the same photo on the same website would look the same regardless of browser, yes?
Not quite. Chrome does not color manage the viewer. In contrast, Firefox allows you to color manage via a plugin. As a result, Firefox reproduces faithfully my photos so that they look very close to what i see when i display the JPEG in Photoshop. In contrast, Chrome makes assumptions. What the assumptions are, I do not know. Clearly not the S-RGB, since I have set my JPEGs and Firefox to S-RGB explicitly and I embedded the S-RGB profile into my JPEGs.
