Perhaps I'm something of a cynic – just perhaps – but the feature list sounds remarkably like the 1Dx. Backlit buttons and the new memory card format set it apart, but Canon must be feeling pleased that they made their announcement first.

In other Nikon news, they've also announced a new AF-S 85mm f/1.8G lens. The only complaint that I have about the excellent 85/1.8D is its generous minimum focusing distance, which has been improved substantially by the new model. Hopefully the optics remain excellent.

And as an aside, when try to type "D4" it usually comes out as "D$". I'm sure that will become a common refrain…
Yes, horses for courses, no need for ship-jumping either way for pros who'll already have bought into the one; the normal trickle-feed of just-enough by Canon and Nikon...both eminently sensible in their "vision" I guess.
Canon and Nikon being the (apparently) main two brands, then whichever one took your fancy at the start, (when you bought your body and began buying lenses) then you will no doubt stay with that brand. Most probably due to the cost of the lenses, the cost of which you wont recover.
Unless you are a well paid professional with money to burn, you wont run both systems.

My lens cost is about £170 to date as the Tamron (£99) and the kit lens came as part of the body package and the Nifty fifty was £69.
I have enjoyed the results from all of them (when I am not just snappin') Wink

Other than that I can't see why the bodies have to be such a large and bulky size, when compared with the 35mm film format ones.
Mind you ,to be fair, the Nikon F4S was a muscular enough beastie(mind you again, much of that was batteries I confess...)..
