Full Version: restricted mode in camera

I have a used Canon 40 D camera and it is in a restricted mode with the letters A-Z and numbers 0-9. I cannot move the mode to any other setting. I was told it has a pass word installed. Does anyone know how I can bypass this mode or get rid of the restricted mode?
