If you're not aware, some metadata such as shooting data, camera settings is usually stored in your image files. The data can usualy be viewed using image viewers or specialised software.

To be a pain, some older programs actually strip off the data when you resave the image.

Just wondering how important this data is to you? Do you use it or manipulate it in any way? How do you accomodate for it in your workflow?

Some programs even let you manipulate the data to insert comments etc. Personally I think it's a good idea as the data is stored within the images themselves and not in some external database - so that if you open up the image in another program, it's still there.
I don't strip the data from any of my images and prefer to keep it intact. In fact as part of my workflow I use ACDSee to rename the batch of pictures with a title (usually location) and the date from the exif data.

Stripping the data has little effect on file size.
