Hello all,
Back in the 70s/80s I was a keen SLR photographer. I had a Ricoh SLR body with 5 lenses. Great fun but I eventually drifted away from it became too much trouble chopping and changing lenses and working with film. A few years back I got myself a compact digital and photo editing software. I found that I enjoyed having so much control over the final image but realised that my options were limited working with JPEG files. A few months back I was thinking of going for a DSLR but was not looking forward to playing around with lenses again. After a lot of research I opted for a Canon SX40HS bridge camera (after discovering that by loading CHDK onto my memory card I would be able to shoot in RAW).
Really enjoying it now and experimenting with some weird ideas in Lightroom. Every now and then I'm delighted to discover something new from online forums and photography sites so I'm pleased to come on board here and look forward to furthering my learning. Also - I retire at the end of the year and am glad to have photography at the ready to fill in some of that spare time.
Cheers
James
