Hello all,
Back in the 70s/80s I was a keen SLR photographer. I had a Ricoh SLR body with 5 lenses. Great fun but I eventually drifted away from it became too much trouble chopping and changing lenses and working with film. A few years back I got myself a compact digital and photo editing software. I found that I enjoyed having so much control over the final image but realised that my options were limited working with JPEG files. A few months back I was thinking of going for a DSLR but was not looking forward to playing around with lenses again. After a lot of research I opted for a Canon SX40HS bridge camera (after discovering that by loading CHDK onto my memory card I would be able to shoot in RAW).
Really enjoying it now and experimenting with some weird ideas in Lightroom. Every now and then I'm delighted to discover something new from online forums and photography sites so I'm pleased to come on board here and look forward to furthering my learning. Also - I retire at the end of the year and am glad to have photography at the ready to fill in some of that spare time.
Cheers
James

Hello and Welcome to shuttertalk. Looking forward to see image you capture in our showcase forums Smile
Hi James,
Ha Ha LOL x 5. It's quite obvious you've never been retired before, where do you imagine all this spare time is coming from?? I had to retire early a couple of years ago for health reasons. Now I question how I ever had time to go to work let alone take photographs! Every morning I dread getting up to the list of jobs 'her indoors' has left me on her way out the door, I'm sure it gets longer not shorter!Sad
