I like your B12 photos, Doug.

The first is a great idea for the composition and I think I would crop it a bit - take away a strip down the left to remove the half window, and a strip across the bottom to remove the bright foreground. In the second it's good to see that the young Wayne Rooney is not just interested in football. Smile

Cheers.
Philip
There you are Phillip even threw in a DMU for you .
The DMU fits perfectly into the 'frame'! That's the idea for the crop, Doug, but I would take it up far enough to remove all the distracting bright foreground platform (i.e. level with the bottom of the leaning wooden post on the left).

Cheers.
Philip
Oh! I understand what you mean now yes , I just need to tone the colours back & it could have been taken back in the sixties .
Here are some old railway photographs from my collection. No details of photographic interest I'm afraid.
First is a DMU in pre 1977 livery.
The second was taken in the early 80's.
Third I have no idea about other than it was taken on the Fife coast between Burntisland and Aberdour.
Metropolitan Tank No1 at the Mid Norfolk Railway at Wymondhom
Pentax K5, F14, 1/640sec, ISO200, 18mm 2stops underexposed to retain sky detail.
Great image. If it wasn't for the Hi-Vis vest it could be a shot from "The Railway Children".
Yes I hate the damn things John, sadly he was the gatekeeper and collected the Key for the ground frame which the engine had just used to run around it's train.
Regards Doug
Doug, you took this one when he was at the Gents! Ed.
Ha Ha Ed how did you do that as I have another image in that series that might be better as the fireman is not hanging out of the cab in such a disturbing manor.
I'm using Elements 14.
Firstly, Photoshop gets most of the credit!. Use CS4E, Cloning and Patch Tool mainly. File size, larger the better, comes into it. Took abut 15 mts, I am a bit slow, (Generally)! Gladly have a go at the other one, bit immobile at the moment. Prefer the largest File size, this one is 611 Kb, I will PM my E-mail address, use if you wish, if this one will not do. You took this when he was away looking for the gatekeeper! All cloned. Cheers. Ed.
You can always go down this route.
One from a couple of years ago. A EWS type 67 hauling a local commuter train, passing through Burntisland.

Nikon D80, Auto mode, 1/1250 sec, f5.6, ISO 200, 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 Nikon VR lens, 105mm lens equivalent,.
Hi John
Nice photo, I always thought that EWS engines were freight only we have some which come to our old cement quarry which is now being filled in with spoil from cross rail .
Doug
Keep 'em coming guys. Amazing cloning work, Ed.
Both of these are fantastic I think Ed's one is great but a bit to sharp, John your rendition is good to with the gate man wearing a tank top.
I will have a crack at these next week my self as I'm doing my accounts for Monday.
Here is one, taken yesterday as "Royal Scot" hauled a Steam Dreams excursion round the Fife then Alloa Circle. Here she is thundering through Kirkcaldy.

Nikon D80, Manual mode, 1/400 sec. f5.6, ISO 250, Nikon 70-300mm VR lens, 105mm lens equivalent. Raw image processes in Lightroom and then using Nik Software.
Nice shot John
Tornado was working the East Coast yesterday and I missed it.
Still crack on with my books and I'll be a free man again ! Well according to my wife anyway..
Was at Tweedbank this evening, few there. Not a Photographic spot really. Only two I was happy with, train and, Conductor? Ed.

Sony a290, 18/200mm Tamron@ 18mm. 125th@F3.5. ISO125.
Excellent shots, Ed. Tweedbank is not ideal, but it is even worse when the enthusiasts are milling around, as I found with the Flying Scotsman.
More Tweedbank, rescued another train shot, was a bit far away, but shut the steam down just after this was taken.
Plate on side of train.
Some of the power unit. Ed.
Nice set of photo's of the Royal Scot Ed
Here is one from Saturday, taken while I waited on the excursion special arriving. This shows a pair of Scotrail Class 158's, used on the Fife Circle line, departing Kirkcaldy for Thornton/Glenrothes.

Nikon D80, Manual mode, 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 Nikon VR lens, 1/400 sec, f5.6, ISO 250, 300mm lens equivalent, Processed in Lightroom and Nik Software.

Really great shots there Ed. Not unexpected though, as they came from yourself!! Smile
