I'm hoping somebody knows a way of 'un formatting' an Olympus 256 MB memory card.
If not via the camera itself, its an Olympus AZ1, is there some sort of software via a PC than can be used?

My father who has been using his new Olympus camera for teh first time though he's use the 'format' option to hopefully change the way some of his imaged looked. Sady 276 images instead went to digital heaven Sad

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers in advance!!

Hey ChrisOC,

Sorry to hear that. If you're planning to unerase - make sure you do not use the card to capture more images, or some of the deleted ones may be overwritten.

You can use some software utilities to attempt a rescue - http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/index.htm

Some cameras do a complete wipe when formatting (like Sony's I think), so your mileage may vary.

Good luck!
Hey all...

I was asked whether there were any freeware proggies out there to do this, and I came across a couple:

All the best!
Whooops, actually scratch the one from Octanesoft - it appears the free one won't unerase pictures. You have to pay for the pro version to do that.
