When we see a nice view, and Peter is there, we say "PEter pan!! Peter pan!!!"
okay, not a very amusing joke, but anyway, today I did a panorama: take pictures next to each other a bit overlapping then come home and use the canon photostitch software to put it together.
Here's a small version:
Matilda bay, opposite uni;
haven't had time to fix up the colours of the sky

but hehe
Very Cool!! How many photos is that?
Hey, very cool, adam! (and peter!) It's perfect!

nice.... love the reflections!
That's 7 pictures (with a lot of overlapping), You can see where it overlaps in the dark areas or where the colour of the skies changes a lot.
I didn't bring my camera to uni today
Here is the
Full sized version (3.0mb)
or maybe I'll be naughty and embed it in the page here

hhaha
Cool.. have you tried IPIX as well? I used a while back and it gave the illusion of virtual reality... pretty cool.
Adam inspired me to try out the panorama maker that came with my cam... it's not as nice as adam's - partly because I was shooting into the sun!! It's a 180 degree view from an overpass near my house...

not bad! you should try putting the road in the middle maybe...?
the photo's not great... I was mostly just checking out the software... It'll also do those 360 degree Quicktime movie thingies... maybe I'll try that... I don't really have a good view to try and match adam's beauty!
BTW, just checked out the full-size version of adam's panoramic... over 14000 pixels wide!!!!
last time i tried to do a full size panorama with about 16 shots on large quality...
crashed my computer ~_~
heres a pan that me peter ... (not peter pan) did at the beggining of the year from kings park ... i too kalot of frames for it .. ~_~
it is super wide...
so youll have to scroll sideways a bit to see all of it ..
basically ..
im taking a phoot in the opposite direction of perth that adam was taking his from ..
an on a darkish day ..
hey that's awesome peter (pan)!
Gotta dig out some of my panoramas too...

yeah, I tried making a pan in 'large' size and it tied up my processor for about 45mins!
Dug up another Panorama from the beginning of the year ..
nice clouds..
but the lighting in the last 2 frames are really noticibly off ..
cause i took them first and then started from the other side..
so by the time i finished ..
the lighting had changed ...

i was just thinking ..
it would be a good idea to shoot manually when doing pans ..
so that the apature and shutterspeed is the same for all frames..
it should make the photo more consistent..
providing that the lighting environment doesnt change due to louds .. etc.

Good idea... do you use a tripod as well?
not for these ones..
but i should ..
it wil help to line up the photos
Peter Pan! Peter Pan! i remember that pan

The lovely clouds pan

I often have problems lining the horizon straight and usually end up shooting from a different angle than I started with
Also the sky being different colours and the amount of light, makes the metering all different so its not constant

I shoot in RAW now, so I can sort of change around some stuff

yeah ..
shoooting in raw is good ..
but i need a faster processor / more ram to play with photo stitches ..
There you go Peter! Something to do with your tax return.
Are you going to buy more ram, or are you going to not bother upgrading anymore and build a new computer (using some of your current parts of course!)
*creates computer thread*
not really..
im just going to buy a laptop ..
so to get l337 specs ...
need to save moneys ...
When are you planning on getting it?
The longer you wait, the cheaper they get, but the new stuff comes out and you might want that instead, then you'll be forever waiting.
Everything technological drops in price very fast.
Just as long as it suits your current needs...
what are your needs?
haha ..
i dont know what my needs are..
but ill buy it at the end of the year ..
If you don't know your needs, it means you have none, which means you don't need a laptop (look, I just saved you $2000+) lol
but in the same way you could also say that I don't NEED my laptop, or camera, or any luxurious goods in my possession

Need to get my laptop serviced soon, the screen is flashing horribly!
haha ...
my need are something faster to process my photos with ..
my compute rright now cant handle prossecing of files at a resonable lag..
wit hthe applications i currently run ..
my computer lags alot...
mabye i need to format ...
soo..
anyone else feel like contributing some nice panoramas ? ^_-
