Taken yesterday: around about 12-ish mm at f8 with the Canon 10-22; shot as raw, boosted saturation a tad; lowered contrast for a flatter look as I wanted to suggest the feel of an old painting.

Love the angle this is taken from, but not sure (personally) about the low contrast treatment. It's certainly done what you intended, just not sure it's to my taste!

I agree with NN on this. I really like the perspective shown.

Again, great angle - I like how you've managed to capture the whole structure. If it were taken from ground level, you'd probably have bits chopped off...
How high did you climb? I'm assuming you were rock-climbing again?
I'm not 100% on the contrast treatment, but otherwise.... Well..... You show some promise....
Perhaps lessons from a certain me-like Terrier, and you'll be ready for something serious.

Clip that dog's claws somebody!(arf!)
D'you know, for some reason I've had a few post-processing problems with this, as I've gone back to the raw image and converted it to something "normal"..but I can't get it to look "real" somehow. I'm slightly puzled,as this was at f8 and very nicely resolved, and i thought, oh well, a cinch here.. but oddly cannot seem to get it to look how it was!
Could i have some advice from someone, please?
It was a bit of a lo-contrast, cloudy day; I was also conscious, post hoc, of the sky skewing my metering, and just "forgot" to double-check my average-grey reading from the grass/ stonework. But this still looks rather unreal...suggestions, folks??
Hi Zig,
Here is what I did with your picture... I added a new layer and painted with black and then changed the blend mode to soft light... reduced the opacity to 40% more or less.. Also you could just duplicate your background layer and change the blend mode to multiply, and reduce the opacity to your liking... this also might help to cheer up the colors in your picture
Irma.

I like the sky and horizon tone, but the cathedral itself appears a little dark on my monitor. (I also confess i have a bit to learn about post-processing terminology! Mind you, the layers thing has got me thinking...I may have another go at this..).
Thanks for your work and efforts on my behalf, Irma!
You are welcome Zig... Your picture is really beautiful, the perspective is great

Zig,
If you want to e-mail me the RAW file I will be happy to have a play - the image looks wonderful and I think I could probably make it sing a bit more.
Ah, ta Chris: not on broadband unfortunately.
