Hey some interesting statistics from IDC about digital camera usage behavour:
http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?pid=235711...US00220705

* One-third of digital camera owners never print

* Over 10% print every image they keep

* The mean number of digital images captured per month is 75

* 14% of total digital camera owner respondents capture more than 100 images per month

* 15% of total respondents never delete any images

* 6% delete all their images (after they print them, I would hope!!) Big Grin

I think I fall into the 15% that never delete any images... Big Grin
I don't delete too much either. Even if there are multiple similar images. One photo can always be used to repair another. Like having spare parts. Big Grin
I've been going through my stuff from 2002 and 2003, and now that sufficient time has elapsed I feel more comfortable deleting many of them. Freed up about 15gb of disc space so far, keeping just the "final" versions (those which I have printed or otherwise decided to keep) and getting rid of the RAWs.

2004 is next ...
Scarey! :o
All I can say is... disks are cheap. Wink

Yes yes ... but not too convenient. So I went and bought another external hd yesterday. Smile

This thing is SOLID - it's built like a tank. And FAST! Whoo! Seems faster than my C: drive, though both claim 7200 rpms and I'm using USB2.0. (Wish I had Firewire 800 though ... )

Anyway, I'd love to have one of those Mitch. I'm just using an internal slave that is just large enough as long as I burn all my images to disk. I don't use the slave for anything else. Also speaking about burning images to disk, I need a better filing system to archive my photos. All my disks are labeled "photos with a date" I'm not finding that sufficient enough to track images I need to access.
