OK. First off don't expect much. I'm an ametuer at best. Also I had about the crappiest position for this show as I was low man on the totem pole. I was only thier to take pictures for my company, who sponsored this show, I was not the hired guns, as there was about three of them as well as the many number of video camera men all who I had to stay out of their way. However I was still excited to get this chance. Then next I was shooting exclusively with my new 85 1.8 and the new 580EX flash that I had bought. I think with out this flash I never would have got any of these shots as my shutter speed would not have been fast enough. Atleast I was able to maintain a 1/200 shutter speed. Of course I did not have much of an idea what I was doing yet with the flash. I shot them all JPEG with the contrast saturation and sharpness on full and still had to sharpen them as I wasn't the steadiest. One other photographer had himself set up infront of the runway back a few aisles with a tripod. Anyway this is the first shot that I chose to show. I will have others when I get time to view and pick from them. Anyone that wants to comment or critique, feel free. My main interest is portrait photography, not this type, but I thought it would be fun to do. This shot was still kind of blurry out of the camera. I had to use smart sharpen to sharpen it up and that added noise. So I used noiseware progessional to take the noise out. I then had to crop out a camera man who had gotten in to the frame, as this was originally a full length view. As I said I did not have a very good position. As a matter of fact most of my shots were from the models sideview. I had to act fast when they did a turn to catch them from the front angle. And sometimes they turned the other way.

One of the models with a Hamilton Tiger Cats fooltball player from the CFL. There were a few of them there tonight. If anyone can tell me who this is, I'd appreciate it. I am not familiar with them and I didn't catch who they said he was.

Don't know who she is but she could use a few good meals!

Great shot Smile
Good sharp pics, the canon does a good job.
Excellent exposure, color, etc. Good work with the new gear.

ROFL at Craig!
Hey, love the vibrant, rich and sharp shots. I think you've done well.

It could be the compression, but check on the left shoulder in the first photo - there are some artifacts there...
My goodness, don't expect much from an amateur? These shots are great. Nice and clean with rich colours.

My only complaint would be the timing for the second shot. Well done!

Timing was a huge problem for me as this was the first event of this kind for me. Remember your seeing the best of the night. Until I go through the rest of the photos I won't know how many I can be proud of, but I have a feeling it won't be many. Yes the equipment did a good job as there are many photos I saw with great exposures and nice color, but as usable photos with good composition.... oh well. I'm still learning.
Great shots GM. Great colour and crisp. I'll echo what Craig said. She needs a burger. :o Yikes!
