D'you know, that's exactly the comparison me and my mate made; very much like York(but without York's hideously-priced banditry); I studied for my degree in Lincoln, and it has a similar feel to the medieval parts of that city.

I like the second photo, reminds me of an Italian village where the houses are built on hillsides.

I like #1. The inclusion of the chimney places the scene in a more human context.

I really like #1 too... it looks like the houses have all turned around to bask in the sun.
And the cathedral towering over the town in #2 is spectacular.
How I wish we had architecture here in Australia dating back as far as it does in the UK and Europe. Amazing.

Ta; that Tamron 90mm is usurping the place of the 10-22 as my "always on" lens. I also wanted to include both the "cross" and the clothes on the washing-line(bottom right) to give it a bit more breadth.
